Town Implements Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

Fires across our state remind us all that it only takes a couple hot days to change Colorado’s fire danger status.
That’s why the Town of Castle Rock has implemented Stage 1 fire restrictions.
Acting on authority granted by Town Council, Town Manager Dave Corliss and Fire and Rescue Chief Art Morales
implemented the restrictions.

Stage 1 restrictions prohibit open burning, except on developed, private property.
However, fireplaces within buildings are allowed. Also allowed under the restrictions are:
  • Fires within liquid-fueled or gas stoves
  • Charcoal grill fires within developed residential or commercial areas and fires within wood-burning stoves
  • Chimineas, fire pits and charcoal smokers on private property away from combustibles
  • Professional fireworks displays (Castle Rock only allows private fireworks on July 4)
  • Fire suppression or Fire Department training fires

Tiki torches and small recreational fires at developed picnic or campground sites. (Flames cannot exceed 4 feet in
length and must be supervised by a responsible person who is at least 21 years old.)
The Fire Chief or Town Manager can impose higher-level Stage 2 restrictions if conditions warrant. Check CRgov.com for any updates regarding the current restriction level. Learn more about restrictions at CRgov.com/firebans.
