Holiday Support for Local Charities

The holidays are all about giving, and Castle Rock has some wonderful organizations that work hard (all year long!) to give back to the community and to those in need. Here are some ways that you can get involved with them and give back—whether that means donating or volunteering. ‘Tis the season to share whatever you can, however you can, whenever you can.

Donate Your Time and Service

Help our furry friends by volunteering your time at the Colorado Animal Welfare League. Not only could you provide valuable service to dogs, cats, and exotic animals, but you could assist their owners and the veterinary staff as well.

The holidays present unique stresses and strains for many of us. Consider spending some time helping out at the Castle Rock Crisis Center. This nonprofit organization provides a wide variety of crucial mental and emotional health support services.

Donate Items and Financial Assistance

Salvation Army Intermountain Division offers a “give where you live” option, ensuring that money you donate stays within your immediate location. This way you can give back to your neighbors in your community.

The following shelters could use warm clothing, grocery items, and personal hygiene items for children, adolescents, and adults: The Douglas County Colorado Food Bank, The Castle Rock Community Women’s Shelters, and The Castle Rock Domestic Violence Help Centers.

Donate Both, or Either

One of the best winter experiences is to cuddle up under a nice warm blanket, perhaps in your favorite pj’s and comfy socks. Want to help others experience this? Consider donating to Castle Rock’s own Sock It To Em Sock Campaign. Their goal is to provide warm socks to all those in need.

The Castle Rock Senior Activity Center is a prominent non-profit organization that offers a wide variety of programs, events, and activities to senior members of the community. These vital services could use your volunteer or financial support - involve the kids as well!

The best thing about these donation ideas is that most of them are not seasonal; they operate year-round. Consider these if you or your family are looking for ways to give back to the community. Happy Holidays, Castle Rock!
